The practice of Yoga has been utilized for thousands of years as an intentional way to experience and understand our unity with all that is. It was born of the same philosophical system as were Tantra, Hinduism, and Buddhism. The understanding that the whole universe is one thing, and therefore inherently perfect (since nothing can be "out of place"), leads naturally to a very simple conclusion: We are exactly what we need to be, right now. If we truly understand this principle, then we may find ourselves scratching our heads and thinking "If everything is perfect how it is, then why do I worry about anything? and why am I working so hard?". Good questions! Well, it would seem that the only reason we worry and experience anxiety, depression, etc. is because we think that there is a problem - with ourselves, someone else, the world, or the whole universe! If we understand the math, and realize that everything is in equilibrium (there must be death to have life, we need suffering to know bliss, there has to be darkness for light to exist), then we can begin to understand that everything we experience is a blessing - even the pain, suffering, and anguish that we all must face in order to find love, peace, and joy.
This is what the ancient Yogis understood. And instead of looking for ways to fight against nature, or manipulate the world or other people - they sought out ways to know themselves. They developed methods of focusing their minds and allowing for strength and flexibility in their bodies to the point that they were prepared for the difficulties of life and could be at peace with their surroundings.

A Very Important Note: If you are injured, or suffering from disease, feeling blissful may be very difficult indeed. This is OK, our pain is there to tell us something. An injury may mean that we need to slow down, pay closer attention to what we're doing, or avoid certain people, places or things. A disease could be the result of improper nutrition, lack of sleep, or lack of exercise. It is possible to correct and heal a great number of health issues simply by leading a healthy lifestyle - proper nutrition, exercise, rest and meditation / mindfulness. Some traumatic injuries or chronic ailments may require treatment to help set your body on a course to healing. Major health issues should always be addressed carefully and without delay in conjunction with implementing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
You will soon find that the more mindfully you live your life, the easier it is to stay injury and disease free. However, if you suffer from any serious ailment, consider consulting with an alternative health professional that can offer a more holistic approach to your healing. Obviously, if you just amputated a limb or are experiencing a life-threatening situation, you should probably stop reading this website and call an ambulance! It's good to have a healthy skepticism when it comes to healthcare options, so pay attention! listen to your body, if a therapy is working, you will know. Many unnecessary surgeries and medications can certainly be avoided through proper diet and exercise, and much of what an alternative healer will do is help guide you to a healthier lifestyle while addressing symptoms such as pain or fatigue. Do your homework! And try all the options. After all, our pain is there for us to learn from. Make full use of it by really exploring the causes and the treatments, especially preventative measures.
